2004 Tryout Information - Who Can Tryout for a SCAHA Team?Any 2004-2005 USA Ice Hockey registered skater in good standing is eligible to tryout for any SCAHA Club. The 2004 SCAHA TRYOUT SCHEDULE will be posted on each individual team home page. Go to TRYOUTS on the SCAHA website. - What does "In Good Standing" Mean? These are players who do not have an outstanding financial or equipment obligation to their 2003-2004 USA Hockey Association. In SCAHA we publish a weekly DELINQUENCY LIST which is sent to each SCAHA Club (from May 1st through August 31st). Players on this list are NOT eligible for any tryouts, tournaments, clinics, practices or exhibition games with ANY SCAHA Club until the delinquency has been cleared. ● What If A Player Was Not A SCAHA Member in the 2003-2004 Season? If the player has a valid USA Hockey Registration for the 2003-2004 season, he or she should carry this information at all times to show proof of registration. Players who did not register for the 2002-03 season MUST pay the USA Hockey registration fee in order to tryout this summer. ● What Is The SCAHA Letter of Intent? The SCAHA Letter of Intent is designed for players to commit to a SCAHA Club for the 2003-2004 season. This form is for SCAHA Clubs only for teams at the AA, A, BB and B levels only. In order to complete the Letter of Intent, your Club will need the following information:
Clubs are permitted to require a NON REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT with the Letter of Intent. For the AA (Tier II) level a maximum deposit of $750.00 is allowed and for the A, BB and B levels a maximum deposit of $500.00 is allowed. In the event a player decides not to continue with the Club for the season, this amount is NOT refundable. Ask your Club about its refund policies BEFORE signing the Letter of Intent. It is important to realize that the Letter of Intent is the player's commitment to a Club and a team ONLY. This is not a commitment based on what coach a player may have, how much playing time a player may or may not receive or how much travel outside of league games there may be. It is important to ASK a lot of questions about the team PRIOR to signing the Letter of Intent. Please note: it is not considered a valid reason for release because a player is not getting enough ice time or because the coach had to quit because of a work commitment or he decided to quit. ● What Happens If A Player Participates In Tryouts While On The Delinquency List? Both the player and the Club which allowed the skater to participate will be immediately suspended by the league. The player may NOT register or skate for the Club who allowed the improper participation for the 2004-2005 season. There may be further sanctions and or fines levied on the player and the Club. ● Can A Player Sign TWO Letters of Intent? No, once the player signs a Letter of Intent, he or she is ineligible for any further tryouts with any other Club. The player may participate in clinics with his or her 2004-2005 Club or any of the other Club summer programs BUT the player may NOT participate in any other Clubs' tryouts. If two Letters of Intent are forwarded for the same player, the league will immediately suspend the player until a determination of the player's status may be made. Further sanctions and or fines may be levied on the player or any SCAHA Club which allowed the improper participation of a player on the committed SCAHA Letter of Intent list. SCAHA does forward a list of players who have signed Letters of Intent to all SCAHA Clubs on a weekly basis throughout the tryout season.
