| Specialty Teams- SCAHA Notification The following is intended to provide a brief overview on the SCAHA policies, guidelines and recommendations related to specialty teams and off season play. Those interested in clarifying any of these areas may contact the league commissioner. 1. Any established SCAHA organization wishing to establish specialty teams need to notify the league of their intent to do so prior to announcing teams, tryouts, etc. 2. The SCAHA season runs September 1st thru April 30th and all member players will be required to comply with the established guidelines posted on this website. Sections 30 and 31 of the SCAHA Guidebook deal specifically with temporary releases required for any purpose related to participation in these types of programs during the SCAHA season (tryouts, specialty team clinics, etc). Each player's first responsibility must be to their home club and releases can be denied until the end of the season. Conflicts with SCAHA season club, team and league matters shall be given priority. 3. All SCAHA member organizations are required to verify the financial "free and clear" status of players prior to any releases or movement. SCAHA, prior to sanctioning any team, shall require that those organizations wishing to establish off season programs between May 1st thru August 31st, verify the financial delinquency status of any player wishing to participate in any events related to these programs. Those teams, created and managed independently, are requested to adhere to these rules, which is consistent with USA Hockey policy. 4. SCAHA recognizes and supports programs intended to provide fair and equal opportunities for all youth hockey players operated consistently with USA Hockey, CAHA, and SCAHA policies. We strongly suggest and encourage parents to verify that off season and specialty programs operate under these guidelines including established by-laws, rules, insurance coverage, and under an established profit or non-profit tax identification status. Parents should confirm all financial obligations ahead of time in writing and recognize that SCAHA will not intercede in conflicts with independent organizations not part of our established league. |
