California Hockey Athletes Making Progress Scholastically

CHAMPS Letter About CHAMPS Criteria Procedures Division of Teams

PURPOSE

California Hockey Athletes Making Progress Scholastically (CHAMPS) was established to encourage, support and reward youth hockey players who commit themselves to their schoolwork while enjoying the sport of hockey.

GOALS

It is the goal of the California Hockey Athletes Making Progress Scholastically (CHAMPS) program to increase awareness among youth hockey players that performance in the classroom is more important in life than performance on the ice. CHAMPS would like to create a lasting impact on a player’s achievement in the classroom.

HISTORY

SCAHA’s inaugural year, 2006-2007, was very successful due to your encouragement of the academic performance among youth hockey players. The teams enrolled in SCAHA, Southern California Amateur Hockey Association in conjunction with The Anaheim Ducks and LA Kings Pro Hockey teams are working together to place a greater emphasis on academic performance. SCAHA recognizes the sacrifices young student-athletes make to juggle schoolwork with an active sports lifestyle.
