Commissioner Robert Doherty called the meeting to order at 7:05 pm with a quorum present.

Minutes

Kevin Culbertson moved to approve the minutes of the July meeting as written.

Bob Doherty introduced Presh Cox, Staffing Manager for Aramark at the Honda Center. She gave a presentation regarding fundraising opportunities for non-profit clubs/teams. Information was handed out.

Commissioner’s Report

Bob discussed the current proposal sent to us by LAHOA. Discussion followed.

Laura Ryan moved to make the referee contract proposal a 3 year contract with no increase for this year, $2.00 across the board increase in referees fees for 08/09 and no increase for 09/10.

Kevin Culbertson moved that all 3 years will have no increase in any game and scheduling fees.

Bob reported that the manager’s training to be held on August 26^th in Anaheim still has low numbers and he asked that every club make this an emphasis and that sign-ups be done as soon as possible.

Deputy Commissioner’s Report

STAFF REPORTS

Member Services – Wendy asked that all clubs turn in the LOIs in right away. Player up paperwork must be in before players participate. Coaches must be screened and cleared before rostering. The registrar’s meeting will be held at the manager’s training on 8/26. New registrars should be in attendance.

Ice Convener – Chris will be sending out forms for game slots. Don’t be late in turning those slots in. He will also be sending out pre-season declaration forms. Both are due by 8/17. The SCAHA Guidebook is on-line now for the current season.

There was some discussion that early tryouts surprised some because the rosters seem fuller. Feedback around the room was mixed. We will revisit tryout dates for next season in November. Larry Cahn encouraged Presidents to watch the level of play for their teams and place them appropriately.

Statistician – Chris reported in Annie’s absence. Only 15 people have responded for manager’s training on 8/26. The cost to SCAHA for this training is about $20 per person and we are only charging $5 per person. Please encourage attendance and respond as soon as possible.

Treasurer - Bob did not have copies of the new budget for presentation. The budget will be presented at the next SCAHA meeting for approval.

Ace Coaching Coordinator - Larry explained that he must have an Ace Coaching Coordinator for each club (mandated by USA Hockey). Send him the name of the coordinator immediately.

Old Business

Dave Bigelow inquired about the new player’s patches. Everyone was reminded that all SCAHA players will be receiving patches this year because of the logo change. We are still working on the design, but they will be out before Christmas.
