SCAHA MEETING OF BOARD OF DIRECTORS April 8, 2009 GLACIAL GARDENS LAKEWOOD BALLET ROOM
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE PRESENT Robert Doherty (Commissioner), Rosemary Voulelikas (Secretary), Wendy Goldstein (Member Services), Annie Fisher (Statistician), John Silberstein (Parliamentarian) and Nancy Hodge (A.C.E. Coordinator).
MEMBER ASSOCIATIONS PRESENT/ABSENT
Robert Doherty called the meeting to order at 7:07 pm.
Minutes Wendy Goldstein stated that the minutes under section Staff Reports: Member Services should be amended to read “not all the clubs are up to date with payment of player’s fees.” Art Trottier motioned to approve the minutes of the April 8, 2009 meeting as amended. (motion SECONDED and PASSED)
Commissioner’s Report Bob Doherty thanked Sandy Blumberg, Wendy Goldstein, Chris Carcerano, Rosemary Voulelikas and Bob Driffill for their assistance during the SCAHA Championships. Bob thanked all the rinks and clubs who hosted the SCAHA playoffs. The playoffs went smoothly and their help was much appreciated. Bob recapped the CAHA Championships. Out of eight-(8) possible state championship titles, SCAHA came away with four-(4) state titles and Norcal came away with four-(4) state titles as well. The 2009 District Tier Championships saw California coming away with seven-(7) of the possible eight District Championship titles and of the seven five-(5) were from Southern California. At the Nationals, the LA Selects BN AA team won the National Championship. Congratulations to all the teams for a job well done!
Deputy Commissioner’s Report Bob Doherty reported on behalf of Sandy Blumberg who is absent. Bob read from an email report from Sandy. Sandy is receiving many complaints from officials that have yet to receive payment for working the SCAHA playoffs. Rinks/clubs should have already paid their officials for working the respective playoffs. Rinks/clubs are to submit their invoice and SCAHA to reimburse. Please email Sandy if there is a problem. There will be a rules committee meeting sometime in May hopefully before the May SCAHA board of directors’ meeting. Anyone interested should email Sandy. And finally, the bids for the CAHA mandated Tier II weekends have been sent out and Sandy is encouraging the rinks and clubs to submit bids.
Staff ReportsMember Services – Wendy Goldstein informed the board that the names for the SCAHA league wide delinquency list needs to be submitted to her by April 24th. Please do not release families until their payment (if by check) clears the bank. Those clubs owing outstanding player fees must pay up as well. And finally, Wendy stated that clubs should make sure to be in attendance at the May SCAHA meeting in order to receive their SCAHA LOI’s.
Statistician – Annie Fisher informed the board that the statistics for the 2008-2009 season will be available on Sportability at the end of April. She will be emailing the club presidents her annual request for mailing addresses of players in order to mail out the hat trick, shut out and play maker patches.
Ice Convener – No report at this time.
Treasurer’s Report No report at this time.
A.C.E. Coordinator Nancy Hodge reported the Level 4 coach’s certification clinic will be held in Las Vegas August 6-9th and the Level 5 coach’s certification clinic will be held the week following Level 4 in St. Paul. Nancy Hodges stated that she has yet to receive the club logos from the presidents for the Hockey Giant banner. She will ask Chris Carcerano, SCAHA web master to forward the logos.
Parliamentarian No report at this time.
CAHA Nomination Rosemary Voulelikas reiterated that the deadline to submit CAHA nominations is April 19, 2009. In addition, clubs should be receiving their ballots by the May SCAHA meeting.
New Business Bob Doherty informed the board that the Ventura Mariners will be changing their club name to that of the Titans.
